RAMBLERS DELIGHT - PHOTOGRAPHERS & PAINTERS PARADISE

Here is just a small sample of photos that we have taken ourselves. I hope they will inspire you to want to walk, paint or photograph. All taken from either a short walking or driving distance from Hacienda del Sol.

The subtle shades as the sun rises over the mountains, contrast sharply with the dramatic skies of sunset.

The numerous white pueblos (white villages) perched high on mountain and hillsides, with their winding steeply- rising streets.

Hundreds of strange ‘stone’ structures at El Torcal (one hour away), the most beautiful karstic phenomenon in Europe. Even weirder ‘out of space’ cloud formations, taken from our patio January 2004!

In March April & May the countryside is ablaze with the colour of the numerous wild flowers.

 

WALKING IN AXARQUIA

Axarquía, a beautiful unique region of Andalucia, has just about every type of terrain to suit all levels of walkers/climbers. Mountains (Mt Maroma 2065 metres), lakes, hills, valleys, caves, gorges, rivers, waterfalls and coast. We have walks,(produced by a local walker), and maps on all these areas available for our guests. We also know a local qualified guide, who can tailor make walks to your requirements.

Sue, (resident owner), has documented and mapped several walks varying in length and difficulty, between   2-6 hours, beginning and ending at Hacienda del Sol. These can be interlinked to make even longer walks. We can for a nominal charge, hire out binoculars, compasses and foldaway three legged stools!

The majority of these walks are also ideal for mountain biking. We have two mountain bikes available for hire, plus helmets.
